BetaCalco LumiArc, Microsquiggle, and Velop: Sculptural Lighting for Modern Spaces
In this coffee break video, we’re spotlighting three new architectural lighting solutions from BetaCalco: LumiArc, Microsquiggle, and Velop. Each fixture advances the brand’s design-forward approach, combining clean geometry with practical performance and streamlined specification. If you’re designing commercial interiors, hospitality environments, or contemporary public spaces, these products deliver standout form factors with carefully considered light quality.
Lumi-Arc By Beta-Calco
LumiArc: Curved Ambient Lighting Inspired by Block
LumiArc evolves BetaCalco’s popular Block family—known for simple, linear lines—by bringing curved shapes into play. The extrusion measures 3.25 inches wide by 4 inches tall, balancing aesthetics with usable illumination for everyday environments.
Mounting: Suspension or surface
Standard diameters: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 feet
Arc options: 120°, 240°, and 300° degrees (custom available)
Output: Up to 106 lm/W (downlight), 150 lm/W (uplight)
Lumens (largest size): Up to 2,600 lm uplight, 1,900 lm downlight
Driver: Remote, with standard dimming options
CCTs: Standard ranges
Specifiers can choose standard diameters combined with standard arcs to avoid shop drawings, speeding submittals and delivery. Think of a 6-foot diameter with a 300-degree arc—nearly a full circle, but open—with clean, consistent performance for ambient applications.
Micro-Squiggle by Beta-Calco
Microsquiggle: Free-Form, Designer-Driven Accent Light
Microsquiggle distills the curved concept into a smaller, highly flexible profile designed for visual impact over raw output. At 1 inch wide and 2-1/8 inches tall, it supports tight geometries with an 8-inch minimum bend radius. This is a rigid-board system—not tape light—so you get structural integrity and refined detail.
Distributions: Direct-only or direct/indirect
Sections: Crosses, curves, T’s, L’s, and linkable curved segments
Output (approx.): 175 lm downlight, 350 lm indirect
Microsquiggle excels in hospitality, feature ceilings, and sculptural installations where the fixture becomes part of the experience—a glowing ribbon of light rather than a primary work-plane solution. Designers can sketch expressive patterns that translate into precise, buildable shapes.
Velop By Beta-Calco
Velop: Silicone-Wrapped, Continuous Glow
Velop introduces a silicone lens that wraps the extrusion, creating smooth, continuous light that flows around end caps. Available in both curved and straight pendants, as well as surface mount, Velop offers a polished aesthetic and versatile distributions.
Distributions: Direct/indirect or direct-only (lens still wraps)
Mounting: Curved pendant, straight pendant, surface mount
Suspension: Hub and multi-point options
Arc options: 120°, 240°, 300° standard
Driver: Remote
Finishes: Full BetaCalco palette plus wood grain
The silicone lens ensures a seamless visual—ideal for modern environments where uninterrupted light lines and soft transitions matter. Pair that with the standardized arc options to bypass shop drawings and keep projects moving.
Why These Fixtures Matter
Across LumiArc, Microsquiggle, and Velop, BetaCalco is making it easier to specify curved luminaires that balance beauty and practicality. You get standardized radii and diameters, remote drivers, familiar dimming, and strong finish options—all while elevating the visual language of a space. Whether you need high-performance ambient light (LumiArc), sculptural accent lines (Microsquiggle), or continuous glowing forms (Velop), these fixtures offer designers the flexibility to create.
