Luminii Has Just Released it’s Gen 2 LED Platform - It’s a Big Deal
Luminii was founded in 2010 by Laurentiu Vlad. Before I go on, I need to say that Laurentiu passed away suddenly at the end of 2025. While he hadn’t been working day-to-day at Luminii for some time, his vision and passion for amazing light are at the core of Luminii, and I am deeply saddened by his loss.
From the outset, Laurentiu envisioned Luminii as the premium small-form-factor LED lighting in a sea of mediocre tape lights. It was that vision that kept Luminii at the forefront of what was possible in the small linear form factor. Laurentiu’s legacy continues with the Luminii’s release of Gen 2 LED.
There’s a lot to dive into, and I won’t attempt to explain it all here and now…but here are some highlights.
The new Vibrant Color Series is the highest-performing small-form linear LED engine on the market today. If you’re a Luminii specifier, you know that the color quality of Luminii products has always been exceptional, but at times it came at the expense of efficacy. Luminii has re-engineered its light engine to not only improve on color consistency and performance, but also increase efficacy.
Max output no longer means poor color performance; the LLVC72 can achieve up to 1100 lumens per foot while maintaining Luminii’s obsession with amazing color rendering, 95+ CRI, and R9 values over 90.
While LLVC72 punched up incredible color, Luminii knows there are times when it’s all about output. That’s why the all-new LLHE64 is about incredibly high performance. This high-efficiency tape has increased maximum lumens to 1375 per foot and maximum efficacy to 160 lumens per watt. But what we think you’ll be really impressed by is the color. Unlike other high-output/efficacy tape lights on the market, Luminii keeps CRI above 93, with R9 values over 50.
These two families represent a leap forward in performance and quality that is unmatched in the industry. That’s not hyperbole, it’s just facts.
Another jump forward comes to the warm dimming technology. Luminii has always had the truest-to-incandescent warm dim tape light on the market, but it required a special driver to ensure great performance. What Luminii did with this generation was develop a two-color solution that eliminates mixing distance concerns and hugs the black body curve to ensure incandescent light dimming and color performance. This is compatible with the PS-UNI driver, making it easy to specify for either phase dimming or 0-10V applications.
Other important upgrades:
Shorter cutting increments - 0.66 inches
Standardized on 10mm tape width, so the tape is compatible with the vast majority of extrusions and uses the solder-less Minii connectors
All LED strips are closet-rated
No price increase from Gen 1
Important Dates
Gen 2 is live today, available for specification and quotation.
April 27th is the last day for quotations on Gen 1 product.

June 26th Final day to place orders for Fixtures using Gen 1.
I think you’re going to absolutely love the new tape light engines, and when you see them in person, you’ll agree that Luminii has jumped back in front of the competition for light and color quality *and* efficacy. Let’s book a presentation ASAP.
